Hendersonville, N.C., May 22, 2020 – Community Foundation of Henderson County and United Way of Henderson County, along with many other local nonprofits, are working to serve the community during these unforeseen and challenging times. This work would not be possible without the support of generous donors, and they wish to express sincere appreciation to those who have contributed to the Henderson County COVID-19 Response Fund. To date, the Fund has distributed almost $274,000 to local nonprofits on the frontlines of the pandemic.
More than 250 donors have provided over $343,000 in gifts to the Response Fund. Many of those donations have come from local families with deep roots and concern for the community. A great example is the Egolf Family -- who recognized early on that the virus would impact the place they loved so dearly. Making a collective contribution to the Response Fund was a way the Egolfs felt they could make a positive impact in the community they love and call home.
Their lifelong connection to Henderson County encouraged Jeff and Jan Egolf, Bob and Sally Egolf Wilson and John and Patti Egolf Luebchow to make a generous family donation to support their community. “We are grateful to be able to join many other families and individuals that have supported the Response Fund,” said Jeff Egolf. “The amount of donations that have aided the Fund is an indication of the character of this community and the willingness to come together in times of need.”
Although the Egolf family now spans across the country, they truly consider Henderson County their home and feel fortunate in being able to join others in support of such a special place. Community Foundation and United Way thank each and every donor who has helped enable important and critical work to be done each day during uncertain times.
