Maude and Harvey Goehring Scholarship
This scholarship is for a student preparing to teach physical science or mathematics in the public secondary schools. The recipient shall be a citizen and resident of Henderson County and shall have graduated from a Henderson County high school. The recipient shall be required to need financial assistance to pursue his or her education at a post-high school institution.
Millard Beal & Family Scholarship
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance for students seeking a higher education degree at an accredited institution. Students must be children, grandchildren, or stepchildren of parents who serve or retired or in relation to a deceased family member who served for either the Hendersonville Police Department or the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department and are in good standing. In addition, active personnel of the Hendersonville Police Department or the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department who wish to continue their education in a field related to a career in law enforcement may be eligible.
Mills River Fire Department Scholarship
Applicant must be the son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter or stepchild of a current member in good standing, or of a deceased member in good standing at time of his death, of the Mills River Fire and Rescue. This scholarship can also be provided for a member in good standing of the Mills River Fire and Rescue who wishes to pursue their education or training. Applicant must be a graduating senior or a graduate of a public, parochial or private school and intend to enroll in a degree-granting program in an accredited school. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5, a minimum SAT score of 900, and must demonstrate involvement in extracurricular activities. **You must submit a letter from the organization’s leadership verifying that you meet criteria**
Morris Kaplan Kiwanis Scholarship
The recipient shall be a citizen and resident of Henderson County and shall have graduated from a high school in Henderson County. The applicant must need financial assistance to attend a post-high school institution. The student should demonstrate scholastic ability, financial need, character, leadership ability, participation in extracurricular activities, be of good moral character, and reflect a willingness to work, learn and pursue their education.
Mountain Laurel Scholarship
This scholarship is to provide financial assistance for a person seeking higher education at an accredited institution including but not limited to: vocational, technical, trade, college, or university levels of education. Assistance is for a resident of Henderson County, North Carolina, leading to a degree. The student must have good academic potential, show a need for financial support to continue his/her education, exhibit personal hardship and demonstrate the initiative to better one’s self. Scholarship candidates are not limited to a graduating senior, but may be awarded to a person who wishes to pursue a higher education. This award is intended to support a student who is not at the top of his or her class academically nor at the bottom of his or her class financially, but a student who may otherwise experience hardship in affording college.
Odell Rouse Memorial Scholarship
Applicant must demonstrate financial need and plan to pursue an education beyond 12th grade by attending an accredited post-secondary institution of higher learning. Applicant must be an active, participating member of the Boys and Girls Club of Henderson County for at least two years. Applicant must be a Henderson County resident for a period of no less than one year at the time of consideration. **You must submit a letter from the organization’s leadership verifying that you meet criteria**
Passage to the Future Scholarship
Applicant must have graduated from a Henderson County public or private high school and attained a GPA of at least a "C" or its equivalent. Applicant may be planning to attend a two-year or a four-year institution. Financial need is a major consideration for this scholarship. Applicant should be actively involved in their church, be focused and energetic, and have a strong work ethic.
Pat Shepherd Second Mile Scholarship
Applicant must be a graduating senior who is a member of Pat's School of Dance and Pat's Dance Company taking tap, jazz and ballet with the intent of furthering his or her education. The student applying for this scholarship must have placed dance as a priority and demonstrated motivation and drive in achieving his or her goals. **You must submit a letter from the organization’s leadership verifying that you meet criteria**
Paul and Linda Mulligan Scholarship for Business
This scholarship provides financial support the a graduate or graduating senior of a Henderson County public high school who is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Business at either a public or a private (non-profit) college or university. Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA, be a legal resident of Henderson County, show financial need, and have community service involvement.
Peggy Lovvorn Scholarship
This scholarship is for a student who is a graduate of Hendersonville High School. The student must show financial need. The applicant need not be the student with a high scholastic average but instead the student who has shown a willingness and desire to do his or her best under difficult circumstances.
