Clyde T. and Wilma G. Moore Scholarship
This scholarship provides educational assistance for current or former patients of Shriners Hospital for Children in Greenville, South Carolina. Applicant must demonstrate their desire to continue their education and convey a genuine desire to become a self-supporting citizen. Applicant must exhibit his or her ability to be successful in a two- or four-year accredited community college, college or university by graduating high school with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and demonstrate financial need.
Dan Barber/Western Auto Scholarship
Each Henderson County Public High School may nominate one male and one female graduating senior. The nominee must have played and lettered in three varsity sports for two or more years during grades 9-12 (one of those years being their senior year). The nominee must have a GPA of 3.0 or better. Financial need is not a requirement.
David H. and Betty R. Bucher Engineering Scholarship
Applicant must be a graduating senior of any Henderson County public, private or parochial school seeking to further his or her education beyond high school. Applicant must be accepted to an accredited degree-granting college or university and be actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of engineering. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 and should be involved in extracurricular and community activities.
David H. and Betty R. Bucher Nursing Scholarship
Applicant must be a graduating senior of any Henderson County public, private or parochial school seeking to further his or her education beyond high school. Applicant must be accepted to an accredited degree-granting college or university and be actively pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in the field of nursing. Applicant should be involved in extracurricular and community activities.
Denis Barton Scholarship
Applicant must be a resident of either Transylvania or Henderson County who has graduated from a public, private, parochial or home school program who wishes to pursue an undergraduate degree at a degree granting college or university and who demonstrates the need for financial assistance in order to attend an institution of higher learning. The applicant should have a cumulative GPA equivalent to a "C average" upon graduation. Preference will be given to students from Transylvania County. Financial need will be more strongly considered than grades. An adult student will be considered for this scholarship if he or she can demonstrate reason as to why he or she did not pursue his or her college education immediately after high school. Such reasons would include but are not limited to military service, medical reasons, family obligations, and/or mission work. The recipient must be awarded the scholarship prior to the age of 30.
Dirk and Paige Willms Scholarship
This scholarship is to provide financial assistance for students seeking a higher education leading to a degree, certification or licensure at an accredited institution approved by the Foundation. Student must be a child or stepchild of a current employee in good standing who works as operations personnel with one of the following agencies: All municipal police departments located in Henderson County, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, Hendersonville Fire Department, all Henderson County Volunteer Fire Departments, and the Henderson County Rescue Squad. Students may live within or outside of Henderson County, NC; meet all academic requirements of the attending institution; and be a United States citizen.
Don and Amy Pace Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial support to students who are graduates of a public high school in Henderson County and who plan to pursue a certification to teach high school English with preference given to students specializing in American Literature.
Donald D. and Joan B. Joyce Scholarship
This scholarship is to provide scholarship assistance to college, community college or trade school students in need in Henderson County, NC. The award will benefit students in need who have a strong desire for higher education. Financial support from the scholarship will be available to each selected student for three successive years, if the efforts of the student demonstrate that such continued support is deserved and all requirement per CFHC are met.
Dr. Corbin O. Williams Memorial Scholarship
Applicant must be a graduating senior of Hendersonville High School or the equivalent who has been accepted to and plans to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Applicant should demonstrate high academic standards, leadership abilities, and exhibit high levels of interpersonal compatibility.
Dr. James Edward Brittain Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is for a graduating senior or graduate of West Henderson High School. Student must be pursing a degree in History of Science, History of Technology, History- Educator, Electrical Engineering, Agriculture, or Forestry at an accredited college or university. A student may be a non-degree program student, omitting sports and craft brewery fields of study. Student must maintain a B average, show financial need, and demonstrate the initiative to better one’s self.Candidate must also be a first-generation college student.
